On
Saturday, May 3rd, we throw open the doors of the Fair to everyone
interested in the trades. Participate in workshops, browse exhibits,
watch demonstrations, and listen to inspiring speakers--and of course,
watch the Women's Work Wear Demonstration!
The
Women in Trades Fair is the best place to learn about:
- Union
and open-shop apprenticeships in electrical, plumbing, carpentry,
masonry, sheet metal, heavy equipment operation, and other trades.
- Community
college training programs in auto mechanics, machine technology,
drafting, building inspection, construction, welding, and more.
- Employer-sponsored
apprenticeships with Portland General Electric, Bonneville Power
Administration, Oregon Department of Transportation, Tri-Met,
and other top-rated companies.
When?
- Saturday,
May 3rd from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Orientation
to the trades: Every half-hour from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- Hands-on
Workshops: choose from eight different workshops during two sessions,
11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m and 1:15 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.
- Awards
and Workwear Demonstration: 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. (exhibit hall closed)
Admission,
child care and parking are free.

- We'll
also provide a shuttle from the Mohawk Park & Ride, at the
intersection of Mohawk and Martinazzi in Tualiatin. the 76 Tri-Met
bus (Beaverton-Tualatin) runs on Saturdays and stops at the Mohawk
Park & Ride.
