Power Line Clearance
Tree Trimmer
The Work
Power line clearance tree trimmers trim trees away from high voltage
power lines. They work at heights to100 feet, suspended from
ropes
and saddles, or from aerial lift equipment. Trimmers must be able
to recognize the hazards involved with working around high voltage
power
lines and be able to perform rescue procedures. Tree trimmers use
tools that include chain saws, hand saws, pole pruners, ropes, rope
blocks,
rope climbing saddles, chippers and aerial lift equipment.
The Working Conditions
The work is done outdoors, year round, in all weather conditions.
Power line clearance tree trimmers work at heights of 20 to100 feet and
around electrical power lines ranging from 120 volts to 500,000
volts.

Union
Apprentice: $13.18 per hour
Journey:
$20.27 per hour
