Cabinetmaker
The Work
Cabinetmakers build, install and repair cabinets, shelves and fixtures
in both residential and commercial buildings. Following
blueprints, cabinetmakers lay out and assemble counters, cabinets and
shelves to exact specifications.
The Working Conditions
Cabinetmakers work indoors with a variety of tools and saws. Jig
saws, table saws, hand saws, hammers, tape measure, nails, glues and
levels are just some of the tools used in the trade.
Wages
Apprentices start at a percentage of the journey level wage.
Wages increase as the apprentice progresses through the
program. The current journel level wage is $12.47 per hour.
